The Climate Imperative and Community Finance
The need to fight climate change and expedite the transition to clean energy is urgent. It will require dedicated focus and resources over many years, but a number of existing federal programs can be updated in the short term to make a significant impact. The federal government has a vital role to play in aligning financial incentives to fight climate change and reducing disparate impacts on low-wealth communities and communities of color that are more vulnerable to the economic and health impacts of environmental
degradation.

Climate Change Chickens have come home to roost
While the Paris Agreement gives state parties lots of latitude to achieve their carbon emission reductions, it also sets an expectation for them to work towards their highest possible ambitious targets in reducing GHGs, and sets a timetable under Article 14 of a global stocktake in 2023 and every five years thereafter, to track progress. The United States, under the Obama administration, set the ambitious goal of reducing GHG emissions by 26 – 28 percent below 2005 levels by 2025.

Taking the Lead on Climate
The Paris agreement – the largest contract to date among the nations of the world to combat climate change – takes a big and important step in its development today (December 3, 2018) at the twenty-fourth Conference of Parties (COP24) meeting to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), in Katowice, Poland.

Gender Handbook in Humanitarian Action
This Handbook sets forth standards for the integration of gender issues from the outset of a new complex emergency or disaster, so that humanitarian services provided neither exacerbate nor inadvertently put people at risk; reach their target audience; and have maximum positive impact.

Roots: Cultivating Culture
This collection of personal stories and recipes represents several generations of Afro-American food culture and serves as a first effort in documenting and curating the history of our food in Charlotte's Historic West End. In an area that has undergone disruptive transformation over the past century, stories like these have kept the soul of the community alive, but this rich history is now in peril as more and more people find themselves without access to fresh nourishing food, have very little time and lack the know-how to prepare it.

Invest in Food, Reverse Climate Change
Direct investing or impact investing is another socially responsible strategy in which people invest directly in companies and projects making change, like to support sustainable, organic, and regenerative agriculture. Regenerative agriculture is a way of farming that puts the focus on soil health, which has the added benefit of also drawing carbon out of the atmosphere. Regenerative agriculture has the power to reverse climate change.
